Creating a SmartVPN Connection
This page explains how to create a SmartVPN Connection using the OCX Management Portal.
A single SmartVPN Connection resource simultaneously creates four interfaces. (For example, in East Japan, two interfaces are created at each of the sites JP-East-0014 and JP-East-0015, as listed in the List of Sites.)
This configuration of one resource with four interfaces ensures robust connection redundancy.
Preparation
Confirm the following before you create a SmartVPN Connection:
- Your User Role is either
adminoruser. - Both of the following conditions are met:
- You have already applied for the SmartVPN service (provided by SoftBank Corp.).
- You have submitted the Hearing Sheet, and the details have been verified by the OCX team.
- Please refer to Step 5 of the "Procedure" section below.
Remarks
SmartVPN Connection is a service that provides a logical connection point between SmartVPN and OCX. Please note that this is a separate service from the "SmartVPN" VPN service provided by SoftBank Corp.
Procedure for Creating a SmartVPN Connection
- Log in to the OCX Management Portal.
- Click [SmartVPN Connection] from the left navigation bar.
- On the SmartVPN Connection list page, click [+ Create].
- The information entry screen will appear. Fill in the following items and click [Create]. Items marked with an asterisk (
*) are required.- Name*
- Enter an arbitrary name (max 40 characters) for easy identification.
- Leading and trailing whitespaces are automatically removed.
- Speed (Bandwidth)*
- Select a speed between 50 Mbps and 10 Gbps.
- Region*
- Select East Japan or West Japan. You can create the SmartVPN Connection in your desired region. If both East and West Japan are selected, the SmartVPN Connection will be created using the same VLAN ID.
- Name*
- Download and fill out the Hearing Sheet, then send it to OCX Support.
- A [Confirm Creation] pop-up will appear. Review the notes and click [Create].
- The SmartVPN Connection list page will be displayed. Confirm that the status of the new resource is
activating. - Once the system completes the connection work, the status changes to
available, completing the creation process.
Once the status changes to available, you will be able to attach the SmartVPN Interface to a Virtual Circuit (VC).
Notes
- Please proceed to Step 6 only after the verification of your Hearing Sheet is complete. (Customers who have already submitted the "OnePort" application form do not need to perform this additional step.)
- Billing begins as soon as the SmartVPN Connection status changes to
available. - For SmartVPN Connections with a bandwidth of 2 Gbps or higher, the lead time is 4 months or more. Please consult the OCX Inquiry Desk in advance.
