Procedure for Creating a Cloud Connection (IBM Cloud)

For IBM Cloud, you first create the Cloud Connection on the OCX Portal, and then perform the connection acceptance on the IBM Cloud console.

  1. Log in to the OCX Portal.

  2. Click [Cloud Connections] from the left navigation bar.

  3. On the Cloud Connections list page, click [Create] and select IBM Cloud.

  4. Fill in the following items on the information input screen and click [Create]. Items marked with an asterisk (*) are required.

    • Select either Cloud Connection without Redundancy or Cloud Connection with Redundancy.
    • If Cloud Connection with Redundancy is selected, enter the settings for both Primary and Secondary connections.
    • Note: You do not need to enter a VLAN-ID; it will be "Automatically Assigned."
    • Name
      • Set any name for identification on the OCX Portal (Max 40 characters).
      • Leading and trailing spaces are automatically removed.
      • Note: This name is for the OCX Portal. The Direct Link name on the IBM Cloud console is automatically generated and will differ.
    • Speed (Bandwidth)
      • Select from 50, 100, 200, 500Mbps, 1, 2, or 5Gbps.
    • Cloud Name
      • IBM Cloud will be displayed.

        • 4-byte ASN: 4201000000-4201064511
      • Forbidden ASNs (even if within the ranges above): 13884, 36351.

  6. Note the automatically generated IBM Direct Link name and precautions on the completion screen. Click [Go to IBM Cloud Direct Link] to proceed to Confirmation on IBM Cloud Console.

  7. Clicking [Back to List] will return you to the list page. Confirm that the status is available and billing pending (indicating the grace period).

Confirmation on IBM Cloud Console

  1. After creating the connection on the OCX Portal, verify that a Direct Link with the status Create in progress appears in the IBM Cloud console.
    • You can check the specific Direct Link name by clicking the Information icon in the Actions column of the target resource on the OCX Portal.
  2. Click Review to check the Direct Link details, enter any required information, and approve the connection.
    • Note: If you reject the Direct Link creation, the OCX Cloud Connection will exist without a valid cloud-side link. In this case, delete the Cloud Connection and create it again.

This completes the creation of the Cloud Connection (IBM Cloud).
