Decommissioning (Deletion) of Cloud Connection (IBM Cloud)

This page explains how to decommission (delete) a Cloud Connection (IBM Cloud) using the OCX Portal. Resources created on the cloud side from a Cloud Connection will undergo a deletion process following the decommissioning of the Cloud Connection. Therefore, as a general rule, please perform the decommissioning (deletion) operation through the OCX Portal.

  • After decommissioning (deleting) the Cloud Connection (IBM Cloud), you must approve the deletion of the Direct Link on the IBM Cloud console. Please note that IBM Cloud billing will not terminate until the Direct Link deletion is approved.

Preparation

Please confirm the following before decommissioning (deleting) a Cloud Connection (IBM Cloud):

  1. Your User Role is either admin or user.
  2. The Cloud Connection to be deleted is not attached to any Virtual Circuit (VC).
  3. Confirm the Direct Link associated with the Cloud Connection to be deleted.
    • Since deletion approval is required on the IBM Cloud console, please identify the target Direct Link in advance.
    • The Direct Link name on the IBM Cloud console is automatically generated upon Cloud Connection creation. You can check the name of the associated Direct Link by clicking the Information icon in the Actions column on the right side of the target Cloud Connection item.

Procedure for Decommissioning (Deletion) of a Cloud Connection (IBM Cloud)

  1. Log in to the OCX Portal.
  2. Click [Cloud Connections] from the left navigation bar.
  3. Once the Cloud Connections list page appears, click the Delete icon in the Actions column on the right side of the item you wish to decommission (delete).
  4. The [Confirm Deletion] pop-up will be displayed; enter the name of the resource and click [Delete].
    • To cancel the operation, click [Cancel].
  5. On the deletion completion screen, confirm the displayed IBM Direct Link name and precautions. Click [Go to IBM Cloud Direct Link] to proceed to Confirmation on IBM Cloud Console.
  6. Click [Back to List] and confirm that the corresponding Cloud Connection has been removed from the list.
    • If the deletion is not executed, or if the status remains stuck as deleting or delete failed, please contact us via the Inquiry Desk on the Dashboard.

Confirmation on IBM Cloud Console

  1. After decommissioning (deleting) the Cloud Connection, find the Direct Link associated with the deleted Cloud Connection on the IBM Cloud console.
  2. Enter the required information and approve the deletion by selecting Confirm deletion.
    • If you reject the deletion of the Direct Link, the OCX Cloud Connection will be deleted, but the Direct Link will remain active on the IBM Cloud side. In such cases, please contact us via the Inquiry Desk on the Dashboard. Please be aware that IBM Cloud billing will continue until the Direct Link is deleted.

Notes

  • A decommissioned (deleted) Cloud Connection cannot be restored.
  • Due to the nature of the provider's cloud system, the deletion process may take some time (the status may remain as deleting). If the status does not change even after 24 hours have passed since the deletion, please contact OCX Support.
