Configuring Multihoming

OCX Multihoming combines two LAG Ports to provide a redundant connection to OCX, enabling a more highly available and manageable connection environment. This page explains how to configure Multihoming using the OCX Portal.

Preparation​

Please confirm the following before configuring Multihoming:

  1. Your User Role is either admin or user.
  2. You have already created two LAG Ports that meet the following requirements:
    • All LAG Ports are at the same OCX network location (DC). *See the list of OCX network locations (DCs) here.
    • All LAG Ports are connected to different OCX UNI Switches (switches installed at OCX connection locations to connect customers to OCX). When creating a Physical Port, you can use Port Redundancy to create a Physical Port on an OCX UNI Switch that differs from that of the specified Physical Port.
    • The Use LACP setting is the same for all LAG Ports.
    • The link speeds of the Physical Ports that constitute each LAG Port are identical across LAG Ports. The number of Physical Ports and the total bandwidth may differ between LAG Ports.
    • The status of all LAG Ports is available.
    • None of the LAG Ports are already included in another Multihoming configuration.

Steps for Configuring Multihoming​

  1. Log in to the OCX Portal.
  2. Click [LAG Ports] from the left navigation bar.
  3. On the LAG Ports list page, click [Configure Multihoming].
  4. The screen will switch to the information entry page. Fill in the following items and click [Create]. Items marked with an asterisk (*) are required.
    • LAG Ports
      • Specify the two LAG Ports prepared in Preparation - 2.
  5. A [Confirmation of Creation] pop-up will appear. Review the settings and click [Create].
  6. You will be returned to the LAG Ports list page. Confirm that the status of the LAG Ports included in the configured Multihoming is available.

This completes the Multihoming configuration.

Notes​

  • Prepare a single physical customer device, or devices that operate logically as a single device through a Stack, Virtual Chassis, HA, or similar configuration.
  • You must create VCIs with the same VLAN ID on all LAG Ports included in the Multihoming configuration. If there is a LAG Port without a VCI, packets sent from the customer device may be discarded by the OCX UNI Switch.
  • When creating or adding a VLAN, first create a VCI for the LAG Port in the OCX Portal, then create or add the VLAN on the customer device.
  • When deleting a VLAN, first delete the VLAN from the customer device, then delete the VCI in the OCX Portal.
